From a static blog on Wix to a living conversation blog about Roundism, the creative process, and the art industry.
Hello everyone,
I have some exciting news to share about the future of the Michal Plis Studio blog.
For a long time, my digital presence lived on Wix.
While it served well as a static gallery, my work has evolved. I’ve felt the need for a space that is less about a portfolio and more about a living, breathing conversation with art collectors, curators, and fellow artists.
Effective immediately, I have moved the blog to its new home:
Why the Move to Substack?
As many of you know, my practice is rooted in Roundism Art Movement, an exploration of flow, light, and the absence of straight lines. I wanted a platform that mirrored that fluidity.
Substack allows me to focus entirely on sharing high-quality art industry insights and my creative process without the noise of traditional social media algorithms or the clutter of pop-up ads. It’s a direct connection between my studio and your inbox.
What Does This Mean for You?
My core mission remains the same: to celebrate the boundless possibilities of artistic expression in discovering the unknown.
Here is how the new access plan works:
Free Forever: The majority of my blog posts, including studio updates and exhibition news, will continue to be free for everyone. You do not need to pay to follow my journey.
The "Pledge" Feature: If you want to support my work early, you can now pledge a future subscription. This signals your support for the studio and helps me plan more ambitious creative projects.
Paid Tier (Coming Soon): I will soon be introducing a Paid Subscriber option for those who want deeper value. This will include exclusive behind-the-scenes content, deep-dives into my "sculpting with light" techniques, and private industry commentary.
Explore the New Categories
I have organized the new blog into five clear sections to help you find exactly what you’re looking for:
Artistic Journey: My creative process and technical explorations.
Art Industry Insights: Honest takes on the business of the art world.
Art Buying Guide: Practical advice for collectors.
Short Stories: The narratives and creative writing behind my work.
Exhibitions: Updates on shows, including the 2025 Glimpse of Another Universe Exhibition.
A Quick Tour of the New Studio Blog
The new platform is designed to be elegant, minimalist, and easy to navigate so the artwork can take center stage. Here is a guide to the new features you can use:
The Desktop Experience (Web Browser)
Top Menu: You can quickly filter posts by the topics mentioned above using the tabs right at the top of the homepage.
Interaction: You can easily Like, Comment, or Share an article to join the conversation and let me know your thoughts on a specific piece.
Table of Contents: For longer deep-dives or industry guides, a handy table of contents will appear on the left side of your screen so you can jump straight to the section you need.
The Mobile App Experience
For the absolute best experience, I recommend reading via the Substack App.
Audio Play Button: This is a fantastic feature. Tap the Play icon (headphones) at the top right of an article to listen to my blog posts and short stories like a podcast while you commute or work in your own studio.
Easy Tabs: Navigate seamlessly between Posts (full articles) and Notes (my short, behind-the-scenes updates) using the simple menu tabs.
Clean Feed: Scroll through my latest paintings and insights in a beautiful, distraction-free environment.
Next Steps
Subscribe: Visit blog.michalplis.com and enter your email to ensure you never miss an update from the studio.
Get the App: I highly recommend the Substack App. It offers a clean reading experience and a "Listen" button so you can hear my articles as a podcast while you are in the studio or on the move.
Spread the Word: If you know someone who loves abstract art or is curious about the art market, please share this new home with them.
Thank you for your continued support as I continue to explore the unknown. See you in the next post!
